Juices or smoothies. Smoothies or juices. In a new post on the Life Smoothies blog we will see some of the differences between these two drinks, that although they are family-friendly, are different in many ways.

The main difference is that while in juices only the liquid is extracted from the fruit, smoothies include pieces of fruit, including the skin in some cases, and then a liquid component is added to them, such as water or some kind of juice. At Life Smoothies we recommend using apple juice as it has a neutral flavour.

It is precisely because of how they are made that means they have a different effect on the human body and means smoothies have many benefits. Let’s see why.

 

More fibre

Smoothies have more fibre. This is because by including the whole fruit, the nutrient that is present in the pulp and especially in the skin of many fruits, is preserved better.

Many people eat less fibre than the recommended daily amount despite the great benefits it has for humans. Among the most immediate and well-known benefits is that it regulates intestinal transit, but it also helps keep the intestine healthy in the long run. It also helps reduce cholesterol levels and control the amount of sugar in the blood.

More filling

And because of the fibre in them, smoothies are more filling. So, if we want to avoid eating other less healthy foods between meals or, for example, for breakfast, they are a great alternative.

Juice, on the other hand, is practically water with the sugar released from the fruit, so it is not recommended to replace any food with it.

 

Less sugar

As we said before, juice is made by squeezing the fruit, so that it only includes the liquid part of the fruit. Sugars are released in this process, causing a significant rise in blood glucose.

Also, to make the same amount of smoothie as juice we will need more pieces of fruit, which will mean even more sugar. And more waste! Since the rest of the fruit is thrown away.

Smoothies, on the other hand, do not go through this process and can also include vegetables, with the benefits they provide. Vegetables have different substances to fruit and also don’t have this level of sugar.

It is precisely the tropical and Ecuadorian origin of all these fruits that transports us to the most heavenly landscapes when we eat them. But if we mix them all together, the result is even better. The softness and freshness of the mango contrasts with the strong flavour of the pineapple and passion fruit. If we also turn them into a smoothie, we will feel like we are on holiday, sipping on summer.

Too much sugar

A lot of people tend to add too much sugar to their smoothies, offsetting any health benefit of the smoothie. Leave it out. Life Smoothie products do not contain added sugars, preservatives or colourants, so you can enjoy a natural drink whenever you want.

We said above that you should let your imagination run wild, but don’t get too carried away. A bad combination of fruits or too many ingredients can ruin the smoothie. BONUS: Wash the blender in the sink

Cleaning the blender is always a challenge, no matter how big or small it is. Today we share with you a useful tip so that you can clean it quickly without wasting time. Fill it about halfway with warm water, add a little bit of soap, turn it on for a few seconds and that’s it! Rinse it out and your blender will be ready to use again.

Summer is just around the corner and there is only one thing on our minds: enjoying the good weather, both day and night. We have a lot of things to do this time of the year, but, perhaps, what we most want to do is to be by the pool, go to the beach and sunbathe.

For these great summer plans, any of our smoothies would be the perfect accompaniment, but for now we want to talk about our Caribbean Kiss.

Its blend of flavours is a journey for the senses to the Caribbean. It perfectly blends the flavours of strawberry, mango and melon; three perfect fruits for this time of the year. In the daytime it will refresh you, and in the evening it will be the best accompaniment because it is a healthy, refreshing, hydrating and, of course, delicious option.

Strawberries: It is probably the most popular ‘natural sweet’, because strawberries can be combined with so much and add a delicious flavour to everything. We are also lucky to have the IQF system to freeze the fruit within the first 24 hours of picking it, so we can enjoy this fruit all year round. Best of all, it will retain all the nutrients, vitamins and minerals, and without having to add preservatives or colourings. It’s wonderful!

Strawberries are mainly made up of water, which makes them very low in calories (e.g. 100 g of strawberries contain about 35 Kcal). Its nutrients include vitamin C, which strengthens the body’s defences, and vitamin E, which acts as an antioxidant. They are also rich in potassium and fibre that regulates intestinal transit.

Mango: Mango is another fruit that you will find in our Caribbean Kiss that gives it a very special touch. As well as flavour, mango is also an incredible fruit. As well as all its many properties, mango helps prevent diseases, helps us to look after our eyes thanks to its vitamin A content, provides many benefits to our skin and helps improve our memory, etc. Eating this fruit every day is a great idea!

Melon: It is well known that one of the characteristics of melon is its high water content, which keeps us hydrated throughout the day. That’s why our Caribbean Kiss Smoothie is perfect for this time of the year.

It is sweet and refreshing; and it also contains a lot of interesting  properties. It has high collagen content, so we could say that eating melon can help keep us young. It is also good for the nervous and muscular system due to its potassium content.

How do I make it?

At LifeSmoothies we have many clients who sell our smoothies so that you can enjoy them wherever you are.

You simply need to buy your bag with the Caribbean Kiss ingredients. The bag is perfectly sealed so that the product is preserved at its very best. The fruit pieces are pre-selected, washed and prepared in the right amounts so that, when you finish making it, it will have our smoothie’s characteristic taste.

Add the bag of fruit to your blender and mix with 250 ml of water, or apple juice. If you want to make it with juice, we think that apple juice is best as it is neutral without changing the smoothie’s characteristic flavour too much.
